Even though Lucy's Bartonella test results won't be back for another two weeks, we pestered the vet until they gave her the medicine anyways. She had been losing half a pound a week for a while, and she's gone from 19 to 16 pounds. Her mind was so foggy that even after days of practice, she could not learn how to walk to her bed. But after two days of the high test antibiotics, she began to wag her tail again. She will now sit up. She can navigate inside and can remember the layout of the house. Basically, she has stopped being a zombie and has returned to being a dog.
It's time to resume our walks. A few months ago, Before Lucy's eye infections, it would have taken us only 20 minutes to walk around the block. Today, it took almost an hour. But on the bright side-we couldn't make it past the stop sign just a few days ago.

This is so encouraging! I figured there was a good reason why she wasn't given the meds in the first place, pending test results (which we both know may be inconclusive.). Sorry that the reason was hesitation on the part of the Dr. Fingers crossed for continued improvement.

Thanks, Connie! I'm still shaking my head regarding my regular vet's office staff. It has been an ordeal which I've chosen not to write about since it would be too angering and boring. Our Eye Dr, however, has an excellent staff.
