After about 16 hours, Molly felt better and began eating again. She seemed poorly for about another day, then returned to her normal scampy self.

This happens to Winnie from time to time, and we haven't noticed a pattern to it. Perfectly normal evening may rarely result in a dog the next morning who won't even look at her breakfast or anything else that I offer to her. By mid afternoon at the latest, she is hungry and back to normal.

Thanks for your comments, Lisa and Connie. The digestive system of a dog will always be a mysterious arena for me. Since they never tell me what is wrong, I'm left wondering, "Did you lick a toad?" "Were you eating grass behind the shed?" "Was it a bad batch of dog food?" "did you try to drink a mud puddle?"
