There are some absolutes that people throw out regarding dogs that are just not true. "Dogs must use Dog shampoo" is one of these. What is absolute is that regular shampoo stings their eyes and strips dogs' coats of moisture. I have used the higher end doggie shampoos, and many failed the eye sting test. Yes, I tried them in my eyes. Dog shampoo is expensive and requires a special trip to the pet supply store if you wanted a decent brand. They still had a long list of chemicals in their ingredient list that concerned me. So we tried Johnson's Baby Moisture Wash. The ingredient list was gentler. Theirs coats looked great. More importantly, so did their skin. Lucy's skin rash from her shelter dog days cleared. Johnson's has minimal suds, so rinsing is a quick affair. It costs 1/3 the amount of dog specific shampoos and Johnson's holds up to their "No Tears" promise. A bonus is that it is a multipurpose detergent at my house. It has nice slip, so I shave my legs with it. I use it to remove eyemakeup and as a bodywash. In related cost saving news... I use regular [not moisturizing] baby shampoo instead of Woolite. It costs less than half, works great and rinses quickly.
