$25-40 for a leash? I call bull$#!t. I have been making my own for 15 years. I fold a 1.5" grosgrain ribbon in half the long ways and sew the two sides down for a doubled thickness. I buy the spring clip at Tractor Supply Co. for $3-$4. Hardware can be cut from old discarded leashes, too. I get ribbon by the spool at Joann's when I can use a 40% off coupon. The doubled grosgrain is strong and is lightweight. It washes easily after being drug through the dirt. When I need an extra hand, I can tie this leash through a belt loop or around my waist. The ribs on the grosgrain keep impromptu knots locked nicely in place, but it unknots easily. For larger dogs who need a stronger leash, webbing can be bought by the yard instead of doubled grosgrain ribbon. But my grosgrain leashes have held up to two greyhounds and a 20 pound dog who's life's work was to pull on the leash and winnow out of every possible walk.
